Policleto fu il primo a creare un canone di bellezza attraverso studi e ricerche, definendo le misure medie per le perfette proporzioni del corpo umano e descrivendole nel suo trattato “Canone”, proporzioni perfette imposte come ideali. Tale concetto di “estetica” immutato nel tempo, eterno, crea ciò che è divino, ma la perfezione può degenerare in ossessione e oppressione. Questa analisi mi conduce alla visione di una gabbia, intesa come costrizione a perseguire il modello di bellezza imposto dalla società. Il progetto prevede la realizzazione di un’installazione che pone la persona davanti ad uno specchio e mediante un algoritmo con l’uso di un Processing viene calcolata l’altezza e proiettata, in proporzione, una griglia/gabbia sul soggetto. Il progetto vuole dare allo spettatore la possibilità di vivere un’esperienza psicologica, un’osservazione sulla mancata corrispondenza, sullo schema che ci chiude con una sensazione di costrizione, ma anche una riflessione sulla percezione della varietà delle caratteristiche umane, quindi la bellezza imperfetta non legata ai canoni che determinano la superficie. La perfezione rende qualcosa di divino mentre l'errore ci rende umani, unici.
Policleto was the first to create a canon of beauty through studies and research, defining the average measures for the perfect proportions of the human body and describing them in his treatise “Canon”, perfect proportions imposed as ideals. This concept of “aesthetics” unchanged over time, eternal, creates what is divine, but perfection can degenerate into obsession and oppression. This analysis has led me to notice a sort of a cage like a vision and it made me understand that this is all a compulsion to pursue a model of beauty imposed by society. The project involves the construction of an installation that places the person in front of a mirror and using a Processing algorithm calculates the height and projects, in proportion, a grid/cage on the subject. The project wants to give the viewer the chance to live a psychological experience, an observation on the mismatch, on the scheme that closes us with a feeling of constriction, but also a reflection on the perception of the variety of human characteristics, therefore imperfect beauty is not linked to the fees that determine the surface. Perfection makes the divine, while mistakes and errors make us human therefore unique
