Sono sempre rimasto affascinato dalla natura dell’ombra: intesa storicamente come assenza di luce, mi sono ritrovato a pensare come essa sia eternamente legata ad un corpo. Questa sua particolare condizione la rende schiava della forma, nello spazio e nel tempo: nel movimento. Ed è nel movimento obbligato della forma dell’ombra che ho visto quel bagliore di divina estetica. Il corpo, in termini di questo progetto, mi è sembrato quasi superfluo: ogni immagine, ogni impressione, ogni emozione l’ho voluta proiettare su un telo. Questo progetto punta alla liberazione dalla schiavitù dell’ombra, tramite l’arte. Il progetto vedrà la proiezione di figure: ombre in movimento su un telo illuminato da una serie di luci. Alla rivelazione del telo, tutto apparterrà ad una sfera diversa, quella del corpo. Il mio auspicio è che il pubblico avrà provato un legame così forte con l’ombra da trovare ambigua ogni sua diversa rappresentazione fisica, a cavallo tra aspettativa e realtà, esaltando alla fine l’unicità delle differenze che legano quei corpi proiettati. Quel che ci rende differenti, d’altronde, è il nostro punto di forza, ed esaltandolo ci rende immensamente divini.
I’ve always been fascinated by the nature of the shadows: historically intended as absence of light, I’ve found myself thinking of how much it is eternally linked to the body. This particular condition, makes it slave of the shape, in space and time: in movement. And it is exactly in the obliged movement of the shape of shadows that I found that gleam of divine aesthetics. The body, in the terms of this project, it seemed to me almost superfluous: each and every image, impression, emotion, I wanted to project it onto a length of cloth. “Only” aims at the liberation of the shadow’s slavery, through art. The project will consist in a series of projections of figures: moving shadows on a cloth lit by a series of lights. My wish is that the audience will create such a strong connection with the shadow that will find ambiguous any other physical representation of it, in between imagination and reality, celebrating in the end the unicity of the differences that link those projected bodies. What differentiates us from one another, after all, it is our biggest strength, and celebrating it, it makes us immensely divine.
