Buono o Cattivo? Bianco o Nero? Non è possibile dare una risposta concreta, perché ogni persona presenta una gamma infinita di personalità. Siamo in una società in cui siamo giudicati per come appariamo, società dominata dai mass media che ci impongono di osservare il prossimo passivamente. Perché tentare di giudicare il prossimo se non conosciamo noi stessi? Come lo spettro ottico ci mostra tutti i colori visibili, così l'istallazione Spectrum ci permette di conoscere l'ambivalenza dell'essere, attraverso lo specchio dell'anima: l'occhio. In Spectrum questi contrasti sono rappresentati mediante uno spazio e un suono. L'installazione consiste in 2 volumi sovrapposti, percorribili lateralmente. Il box superiore è ricoperto da un lato da oblò opalini su cui verranno proiettati degli occhi, che seguiranno lo spettatore in ogni suo movimento. All'interno dello spazio si possono inoltre udire suoni fastidiosi per creare una sensazione di ansia e disagio. Il box inferiore contiene, nella parte posteriore, uno schermo al cui interno ci sarà un video dello spettatore presente in quel momento nell’installazione, come se venisse spiato. Ciò serve a comprendere due opposti comportamenti in due diverse situazioni e le loro conseguenti reazioni in noi stessi e negli altri.
Good or Bad? Victim or Murderer? White or black? It isn’t possible to give a concrete answer because every person has different kinds of personalities. We live in a society that judges us for how we look, a society controlled by the mass-media that force ourselves to passively observe the neighbor. Why should we try to judge the neighbor if we don’t even know ourselves? The optical spectrum shows us all visible colors and like this the “Spectrum” installation allows us to know the ambivalence of being through the mirror of the soul: the eye. In Spectrum these contrasts are presented by a space and a sound. The installation consist of 2 overlapping volumes that can be crossed sideways. The upper box is covered on the side of opaline portholes where different types of bye will be projected. These eyes will follow every movements of the viewer. Annoying sounds can be heard inside the installation. All these elements will create a feeling of anxiety and awkwardness. In the back of lower box, there’s a screen with a video of the viewer present in that moment in the installation, just like he’s being spied on. This helps us to understand two opposite behaviours in two different situations causing different reactions in ourselves and in others.
